Standard Outrigger

The tube sits at a 90 degree angle and the ski tip flips up when the string is pulled when walking or pushing as needed. This is the traditional style.

Standard or Competition Outrigger in the "Up" position.

Competition Outrigger

The up position allows racers to launch out of a starting gate quicker. The ski tip flips down to the "race" position when the string is pulled. This prevents the tail of the ski from dragging giving you the competitive edge.

Methods to Properly Select an Outrigger Size:

  1. The ideal method involves getting feedback from an adaptive ski program.  They will assess your needs and skill level to determine the optimal outrigger size for you.  They can provide the "y" measurement for you to use when ordering outriggers.

  2. You can stand straight with your arms at your sides and measure the distance from the middle of your palm to the ground.  (This is basically the same as measuring your inseam.) This will give you the "y" measurement shown on the Outrigger Order Form.  The "x" measurement can be found by measuring the distance from your wrist to the middle of your forearm.

  3. To get a general idea, you may also simply use your height to choose a size from the chart on the Order Form.  Because our outriggers are adjustable by several inches, it is possible that by using only your height, you can select a proper size outrigger.

CHILDREN
4' 1" - 4' 8"
JUNIOR
4' 8" - 5' 2"
MED
5' 2"- 6'
TALL
6' and up

*Note* When the ski is in the "up" position, it will add 5" to the "y" dimension. This is particularly important for monoskiers.

“X” Dimension is measured from top of the hand grip to the top of the cuff at the back of cuff and parallel with the tube.

“Y” dimension is measured from top of the hand grip to the bottom of the ski.
